University of South Dakota (USD) Nursing To Host Rural Career Fair March 4

The University of South Dakota Department of Nursing is hosting a Rural Career Fair event for pre-nursing and nursing students on March 4 from noon - 2 p.m. in the Lee Medical Building atrium.

USD pre-nursing and nursing students will have the opportunity to meet with several rural representatives from facilities across the state to discuss internship and employment options.

“USD’s Rural Nursing Fair benefits both the employing facilities and students,” said Michele Seaton-Bertsch, assistant advisor and recruiter for the nursing department. “Many of the rural facilities are offering great incentives to work in their areas. Oftentimes, students think being employed by a larger facility is better, but truthfully, some of the rural facilities offer the chance to grow as a new nurse and hone skills in specific areas while learning about a new community.”

Some of the rural facilities attending the career fair include the following.

  • Avera McKennan Hospital

  • Coteau des Prairies Health Care Systems

  • Freeman Regional Health Services

  • Indian Health Service, Great Plains Area

  • Interim HealthCare

  • Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services

  • Madison Regional Health System

  • Monument Health

  • Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services

  • Prairie Lakes Healthcare System

  • Sanford Vermillion

  • USD Army ROTC

  • USD HRSA Grant

The Rural Career Fair is supported by Grant US6HP47230-01-00 from Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Its contents are solely the responsibility of USD and do not necessarily represent the official views of HRSA.
