Kristin Koehlmoos Receives Sheaf of Wheat Award
Kristin Koehlmoos
Columbus Community Hospital is proud to recognize pharmacist Kristin Koehlmoos with the Sheaf of Wheat Award for an act of kindness that reflects the compassion and attentiveness she brings to her work each day.
During a recent lunch provided by a pharmaceutical representative, Koehlmoos noticed several meals were left over. She brought one of the extra lunches to the emergency department and gave it to the spouse of a chronically ill patient who was visibly overwhelmed, offering the meal with genuine care and creating a moment of comfort during a difficult day.
Her gesture demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families who spend long hours supporting a loved one through illness. Koehlmoos recognized a need, responded without hesitation and extended support to someone who was struggling. Her willingness to step outside her routine responsibilities and care for a family member she had never met reflects the values that guide our work at Columbus Community Hospital. Moments like this show how compassion can ease stress, restore dignity and remind families they are supported by an entire community of caregivers.
Koehlmoos’s actions also highlight the important role pharmacists play in patient care beyond medication management. Her colleagues daily see the kindness, professionalism and dedication she brings to her role, and this moment offered a clear example of the positive impact she has on those around her. We are honored to highlight her commitment to compassionate care and the meaningful difference she makes for patients, families and staff throughout the hospital.
