HRMC Honors Omodt As September Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently honored Kelly Omodt as the September Exceptional Employee of the Month.

Omodt is a certified nurse aide (CNA) and works on the medical unit as well as home health and the obstetrics departments. Omodt has worked at HRMC for nearly a year and was nominated by colleagues for the award. One nomination stated, “Kelly ensures her patients are comfortable and receive the best care possible while at HRMC.” The nomination continued, “She strives to make their experience positive by sitting at the bedside and engaging in conversation on top of all of the care she provides to patients.”

Another colleague remarked, “Kelly is not afraid to take extra time to make sure patients are well cared for. I personally witnessed this when a family member of mine, who was elderly and confused, was a patient for Kelly and she took the time to not only feed her, but to visit with her and listen to her.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees by the HRMC board of directors.

As September exceptional employee, Omodt received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.

Omodt has spent most of her career as a CNA in long term care and is enjoying caring for patients in a hospital setting. “The people I work with make my job amazing,” she remarked. “The nurses have been supportive and helpful.”  Upon being surprised with the Exceptional Employee award, she stated, “I just want to treat all my patients like I would my family.”

Omodt lives in Huron. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family including her son, Ryan Query, his wife Ashley, and their children Aiden, age 15, and Kylie, age 12.

Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 605-353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org.
