CommonSpirit Health’s Central Region Welcomes Dr. Chris Acker as New Chief Medical Officer

Chris Acker, MD, MA, FACEP, has been named the new Nebraska/Iowa Market Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for CommonSpirit Health’s Central Region. Dr. Acker will transition from his current role as CMO at CHI Health Immanuel, while continuing to serve as CMO at CHI Health Mercy-Council Bluffs. He will divide his time between the two positions. 

Dr. Acker brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role and has been a valued member of CHI Health’s medical staff as an emergency physician since 2014. He assumed the role of CMO at CHI Health Mercy-Council Bluffs and CHI Health Immanuel in 2022. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Acker received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
