Avera Addiction Care Center Earns Blue Distinction Center Designation for Substance Use Treatment and Recovery

Avera Addiction Care Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., has been designated a Blue Distinction Center for substance use treatment and recovery by Wellmark® Blue Cross® and Blue Shield®.

The Blue Distinction Specialty Care designation means the program meets nationally recognized standards and demonstrates expertise in delivering multidisciplinary, patient-centered, evidence-based care with a commitment to quality.

The Blue Distinction Center program identifies treatment facilities that improve outcomes with evidence-based, patient-focused care. This includes residential and inpatient care. They also provide multi-disciplinary, coordinated care and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

Facilities in this program show strong results:

• 27% lower readmission rates

• 14% better prescribing patterns for MAT

• 9% better follow-up care after treatment and MAT.
