Washington County Hospital and Clinics (WCHC) is pleased to announce its recognition as one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). This prestigious acknowledgment underscores WCHC's commitment to providing "More Than You Expect for Your Healthcare."

The NRHA's designation of WCHC as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital reflects its outstanding performance across various key metrics, as assessed by the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™. Utilizing data from the Chartis Center for Rural Health, NRHA evaluates hospitals based on eight essential pillars of excellence: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance.

Critical access hospitals play a vital role in healthcare delivery, particularly in rural areas, where access to medical services may be limited. WCHC, among approximately 1,366 critical access hospitals nationwide, with 80 of those being in Iowa, stands out for its exceptional performance and dedication to serving its community.
