UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Advances Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to Level 3
St. Luke’s is proud to announce its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has been officially designated as a Level 3 NICU. This advancement strengthens access to comprehensive, high-level neonatal care in the Siouxland region and supports families by keeping more infants close to home during critical stages of treatment and recovery.
“Achieving Level 3 status strengthens our ability to care for infants with complex medical needs right here at St. Luke’s. Our team is prepared, equipped, and committed to providing advanced neonatal care that supports the best possible outcomes for every baby we serve.” says Jane Arnold, president.
A Level 3 NICU is equipped to care for newborns of premature gestational age, including infants born earlier than 32 weeks and those who require advanced respiratory support, continuous monitoring and complex medical interventions.
“We are honored to bring this high level of neonatal care to the families we serve,” says Arnold. “Our Level 3 designation reflects the expertise of our clinical teams and our ongoing commitment to providing safe, specialized care for our smallest patients.”
UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s NICU has long provided high-quality care for premature and medically fragile infants. The Level 3 accreditation means we are able to respond to more complex medical needs, reduces the need for long-distance transfers and aligns with national standards for neonatal care.
The Level 3 NICU designation reinforces UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s role as a trusted regional resource for advanced maternal and newborn care. To learn more about the NICU at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s, visit unitypoint.org.
