MercyOne Records 8,366 Births in 2025, With Girls Outnumbering Boys

MercyOne Birth Centers welcomed 8,592 babies in 2025, including more than 4,321 girls, 4,271 boys, and 133 sets of twins.

Locally, the MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center’s Birth Center enjoyed a baby boom with a 194% increase in deliveries in fiscal year 2025 as compared to fiscal year 2023.

“This upward trend in births at the Silvis campus began in July 2024, when Dr. May Yazeji, of Contemporary Obstetrics & Gynecology Women’s Care Center, joined MercyOne Genesis,” said Theresa Main, MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center President.

“Dr May had a vision for what was needed in women’s health care in the Illinois Quad Cities, and we shared that vision. With her offices in Moline and on our Silvis campus, Dr. May has been delivering the babies of her many patients at the Silvis Birth Center.”

The MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center’s Birth Center also launched a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Inpatient Program in 2025, in which a nurse practitioner is available around the clock to care for newborns in our Level 2 Nursery. In June, Medical Arts OB/GYN physicians Justin Hinzman, MD, Karla Van Keulen, MD, and Rhonda Freed, MD, relocated their offices to the Larson Center on the campus of MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center.
