Top High School Students Compete in ‘Anato-Bee’ on March 14; Tours and Standardized Patients From 1:30–3 p.m.
The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine’s Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Anatomy and the UNMC College of Dentistry will host the 2026 regional Anato-Bee on March 14. Interviews and media opportunities are available from 1:30-3 p.m.
Thirty-one high-performing students from across the country will explore potential opportunities in health care and compete in a regional-level tournament. Awards include research opportunities and a stipend for the top-placing students. The students must take an anatomy lab practical, a written examination, an oral quiz conducted in a format similar to a spelling bee, and work with local standardized patients to demonstrate a mastery of anatomical concepts. Students from Arizona, Michigan, Missouri, California, Indiana, Washington, Texas and Nebraska will attend the two-day event. Awards will be given out on March 15 to top scorers.
The Anato-Bee is a national organization that annually holds a high school competition in anatomical sciences. There are two regional contests held this year, with the second at Thomas Jefferson University Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia.
