The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced Sanford Health is among 13 community health care systems that have pledged to share data to improve the Veteran experience regardless of where Veterans receive their health care — inside or outside of VA.
VA Black Hills Health Care System Transitions Care to Virtual Options in Rapid City
Effective March 30, 2020, the Rapid City Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) will transition care to virtual options. Primary care and mental health routine appointments will be moved to telehealth through phone or video.
VA hosts Stand Down and Resource Fair for Veterans and their families
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Black Hills Health Care System (BHHCS) will host a Veteran Stand Down and Resource Fair on November 5, 2019. The event is open to all Veterans and their family members from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Rushmore Hall, C&D. Goodwill of the Great Plains will provide the meal at the event.

Meet the VA’s New Chief of Staff
Dr. John (Jack) Wempe, the new Chief of Staff for the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, says he came to South Dakota because of the people. Wempe, who spent 3 decades in the military, says he especially appreciates the “Midwestern values” and work ethic of the VA staff with whom he now works.
