A New Level of Specialized Eye Care Comes to Sioux Falls

Dr. Adam Bleeker

Ophthalmology Limited is expanding their dynamic group of subspecialties with the addition of Dr. Adam Bleeker, a fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist and adult strabismus surgeon.

A Mitchell native, Dr. Bleeker returns to Sioux Falls, SD after completing his ophthalmology residency and neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City. His arrival brings a highly specialized field of care to the region that’s historically been difficult for patients to access without traveling several hours to larger medical centers.

Neuro-ophthalmology focuses on vision problems related to the optic nerve, brain, and nervous system. Dr. Bleeker works with patients experiencing complex or unexplained symptoms such as sudden vision loss, double vision, and neurologic conditions that affect sight. He also treats adult strabismus, a condition that can affect eye alignment and coordination. Many of these patients may have spent months, or even years, searching for answers.

“What’s most rewarding is helping patients understand what’s happening and giving them a clear path forward,” says Dr. Bleeker. “These conditions can be complex, but that doesn’t mean the experience should be.”

Known for his thoughtful, patient-centered approach, Dr. Bleeker emphasizes clear communication and collaboration with other providers to ensure coordinated care. His goal is to help patients feel informed and supported throughout their diagnosis and treatment.

His addition comes at a time of continued growth for Ophthalmology Limited. The organization has also expanded its surgery center to increase capacity, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall patient experience. Together, these investments reflect a shared commitment to delivering advanced, accessible care close to home.

For patients across South Dakota and the surrounding region, it means fewer long-distance trips and more answers, closer to where they live.
