Sanford Wahpeton Offering Flu Vaccinations

Sanford Health Wahpeton, 332 Second Ave. N, is offering several options for  patients to receive their seasonal influenza (flu) vaccination.

Patients may receive the flu vaccine during any regular Sanford visit, by scheduling an appointment, or during our vaccine events every Thursday from Sept. 14 through Oct. 19 from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. for patients 65 and older and from 3-5 p.m. for patients 64 years and younger.

Patients must make an appointment by going to My Sanford Chart or by calling 701-642-7000. 

The fall is the perfect time to get your flu shot. The vaccine offers protection throughout the entire flu season, and is the best way to protect yourself and your community from the flu. Find a fall vaccine event near you.

Who should receive a flu shot?

Everyone ages six months and older should get a flu vaccination annually to reduce the risk of becoming ill with influenza or transmitting it to others.  Certain groups are at higher risk and are strongly recommended to receive the vaccine:

  • All children ages six months and older, unless advised otherwise by your physician.

  • Pregnant women and anyone who becomes pregnant during the flu season.

  • People 50 years and older.

  • Adults and children with certain chronic conditions.

To prevent transmission to high-risk populations, vaccination is also recommended for:

  • Health care workers.

  • Caregivers of children less than six months of age and adults over age 65.

  • Adults and children who live with children less than six months of age.

  • Adults and children who live with or care for persons with medical conditions that put them at higher risk for sever complications from influenza.
