Receive Expert Care at Columbus Community Hospital's Emergency Room

Columbus Community Hospital’s (CCH’s) emergency department (ED) stands ready to provide critical care to patients facing life-threatening emergencies.

"Our team is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to every patient, regardless of the severity of their condition," said Dr. Kevin Montgomery, assistant ED medical director at CCH. "We understand that time is of the essence in emergency situations, and we strive to provide rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment."

The emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and provides immediate care for a variety of urgent medical conditions. These may include, but are not limited to, severe injuries, heart attacks, strokes, respiratory distress, poisoning and severe allergic reactions.

"When in doubt, call your health care provider,” said Dr. Mark Howerter, chief medical officer at the hospital. “They can help you determine if your symptoms warrant a visit to urgent care or the emergency room.”

The CCH ED staff is committed to providing compassionate and efficient care to every patient. From the moment a patient arrives, they receive a comprehensive assessment to determine the severity of their condition and the appropriate course of treatment. Patients who require specialized care may be transferred to a higher level of care, such as a tertiary care hospital.

“Our goal is to provide compassionate and efficient care to every patient,” said Dr. Howerter. “We understand that coming to the emergency department can be a stressful experience, and we strive to make our patients feel comfortable and cared for."

While urgent care centers and emergency rooms serve distinct purposes, they often work collaboratively to ensure the best patient care. In situations where a patient's condition worsens or requires more specialized treatment than an urgent care center can provide, doctors can provide a seamless transition to the emergency room.

“The department is dedicated to educating the community about emergency preparedness and first aid,” said Dr. Montgomery. “By providing information on how to recognize and respond to medical emergencies, the hospital aims to empower individuals to act and save lives.”

Columbus Community Hospital’s emergency department is more than just a facility — it is a lifeline for the community. By providing exceptional care and a commitment to patient safety, the department continues to make a significant impact on the lives of those in need.
