Prairie Lakes Welcomes New Physician to Emergency Services

Prairie Lakes Healthcare System welcomes Niel Burns, MD to the ER staff at the Prairie Lakes Emergency Department. Dr. Burns joins Dr. Erickson, Dr. Filler, and Dr. Singh in triaging and treating patients with urgent and emergent medical needs and conditions.

Dr. Burns is a board-certified family physician and has nine years of experience in the emergency medicine setting. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine in Vermillion, SD and completed his residency in family medicine at Siouxland Medical Education Foundation – Family Medicine Center in Sioux City, IA.  Dr. Burns currently resides in Pierre, SD with his wife, Heidi and stepdaughter, Ava. Dr. Burns is very active in his spare time and enjoys archery/bowhunting, fishing, golfing, distance running, cooking, kayaking, playing piano, and reading.
