Part Of Fieldhouse To Close On Feb. 10
The field, track and tennis courts portion of the new Columbus Fieldhouse will be closed to the public starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. The rest of the fieldhouse will be available and operating under normal hours.
During that time, Columbus Community Hospital is renting that portion of the fieldhouse to hunting organization Ducks Unlimited for its annual spring dinner and auction. The booking was a last-minute addition, as the organization’s previous venue unexpectedly canceled.
Ducks Unlimited is providing security for the event. While there will be alcohol and unloaded and properly secured guns present at the dinner, attendees are strictly prohibited from taking them outside the event area. Representatives from Ducks Unlimited will be stationed at all entrances to the event area to ensure no alcohol leaves the field.
“While we are assisting Ducks Unlimited in its time of need, our main goal remains to keep the adults and children who use our facility safe,” said Mike Hansen, president and CEO of Columbus Community Hospital. “We will ensure that the event attendees will not bother the families in the rest of the fieldhouse.”
The fieldhouse will again be fully available to the public on Sunday, Feb. 11.
