Caleb Nicolay Honored With DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses

Caleb Nicolay, RN, BSN, recently received Columbus Community Hospital’s DAISY Award for the fourth quarter of 2023. Nicolay is currently the service line coordinator for the hospital’s post-acute care unit (PACU), but previously worked in the acute and intensive care units.

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates nurses’ extraordinary clinical skills and compassionate care. CCH is a DAISY Award Partner and recognizes one of its nurses with this special honor each quarter.

The parent of a former patient nominated Nicolay for the award. In her nomination letter, the woman praised Nicolay for his wonderful care during her daughter’s first stay at the hospital.

“Caleb was our receiving nurse when my daughter was admitted to the hospital,” she said. “He was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond! If not for him doing an amazing job and being so thorough, we may never have had a diagnosis.”

Nicolay was honored with an award presentation on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, and staff can nominate a deserving nurse by filling out the “Nurse Nomination Form” at columbushosp.org. Nominations received after the winner is chosen for that quarter will be eligible for the next DAISY Award.
