Orthopedic Surgeon Brings Professional Expertise to Columbus
When it comes to pain, you shouldn’t have to “just live with it.” Whether you are a young athlete experiencing problems because of repeated use, or an adult suffering from debilitating arthritis, you need a provider who can help you get back to living your life to the fullest.
Dr. Thomas Saylor joined Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic in January 2021 as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and hand surgery.
“Dr. Saylor’s expertise in complex upper extremity conditions has been invaluable to our clinic and our patients,” said Dr. Dustin Volkmer, orthopedic physician and medical staff president at Columbus Community Hospital. “He has extensive training in hand, wrist and shoulder conditions and is a recognized expert in joint replacement.”
Before receiving his medical degree from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, Saylor earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. To further his training, he also completed a shoulder, elbow, hand and microsurgery fellowship at the University of Florida Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, with an additional certification in hand surgery.
“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Saylor as part of our medical team at Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic,” said Mike Hansen, president and CEO of the hospital. “His professional experience and compassionate care are a great asset to the health and wellness of our patients.”
Saylor has completed thousands of successful surgeries and worked with many prestigious organizations in his more than 20-year career.
“Dr. Saylor regularly treats elite athletes, including Professional Golfers Association (PGA) professionals, and is the spring training team physician for the St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball team,” Volkmer said. “His outstanding training and skills allow Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic to continue to provide a full spectrum of expert orthopedic care close to home.”
Saylor is available at Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic every third week.
