Orthopedic Institute Expands Expertise with the Addition of Dr. Fiegen and Dr. Meaike

Orthopedic Institute is excited to welcome Anthony P. Fiegen, MD, and Joshua J. Meaike, MD, to their team. Dr. Fiegen’s specialty is in comprehensive sports medicine, and Dr. Meaike will focus on conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.

Prior to joining the Orthopedic Institute in 2024, Dr. Fiegen completed orthopedic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He then went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as a team physician for the ACC Wake Forest football, men’s basketball, and baseball teams.

Dr. Fiegen grew up in Madison, SD. He attended South Dakota State University competing for the Jackrabbits’ men’s basketball team from 2009-2013, winning the Summit League Tournament in his junior and senior seasons and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

“I’m excited to return to South Dakota with my family,” says Dr. Fiegen, “And to provide compassionate care to patients in the region with orthopedic needs.”

Joshua J. Meaike, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in care of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder treating all conditions of the upper extremity from the shoulder to the fingers. This includes both bony and soft tissue procedures such as fracture management, joint replacements, and peripheral nerve surgery like carpal or cubital tunnel release.

Dr. Meaike completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He received his MD (Doctor of Medicine) from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Before joining Orthopedic Institute in 2024, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN followed by an additional year of upper extremity specialty training at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis, IN including Microsurgical certification.
