Omaha Children’s Museum to Present ‘Amazing Bubble Show’ at Camp Munroe on July 16

WHAT:  The Omaha Children’s Museum is slated to entertain campers at Camp Munroe. Camp Munroe is the University of Nebraska Medical Center Munroe-Meyer Institute’s annual summer camp for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Now in its 43rd year and providing seven one-week sessions, the camp provides fun, friendship and activities to more than 230 youth, with trained recreational therapy staff and a team of volunteers committed to helping camper enjoy a fun day-camp experience.

The Omaha Children’s Museum, which offers educational programming, will put on its Amazing Bubble Show. Campers will see new tools used to create bubbles, bubbles turned into smoke and bubbles large enough to stand in.

WHEN:  1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 

WHERE: The Munroe-Meyer Institute, 6902 Pine St., Omaha

Interviews will be made available with:

• Savannah Bowling, volunteer coordinator in MMI’s Recreational Therapy Department

• Hailey Lockwood, adaptive therapy specialist in MMI’s Recreational Therapy Department

• Selected campers

• Camp staff and volunteers

Visuals will include campers taking part in recreational activities.

NOTE: Because MMI is a HIPAA-compliant health services facility, there will be campers who cannot be photographed, filmed (even in background) or interviewed. MMI staff will identify these individuals for media. Media must please refrain from filming or photographing these individuals, even in large groups, while at MMI.

MMI staff members will provide visual opportunities that include campers whose families have agreed to let them participate in photographs, videos and interviews.
