MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center Nationally Recognized For Commitment To High-Quality Heart Care

MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center received four American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline® achievement awards for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, ultimately leading to lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.

Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke or heart attack, and heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in United States, respectively. Studies show patients can recover better when providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.

Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline put the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest evidence- and research-based guidelines. As a participant in both Mission: Lifeline and Get with the Guidelines programs, MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center qualified for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to improving quality care.

“MercyOne is committed to improving our patients overall experience by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines,” said Mir Rauf Subla, MD, FACC, FSCAI, medical director and interventional cardiologist at MercyOne Siouxland Heart and Vascular Center. “These programs make it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which helps to ensure more people in Siouxland experience longer, healthier lives.”

This year, MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center received these achievement awards:

· Mission: Lifeline® Regional Award

· Mission: Lifeline® STEMI Receiving Gold Plus

· Mission: Lifeline® NSTEMI Gold

· Get With The Guidelines® Heart Failure Gold Plus Award with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

“It’s so rewarding to receive these awards,” said Doris Junck, RN, RCIS, STEMI Coordinator at MercyOne. “It gives us positive feedback on the care, we are providing our patients and the Siouxland community. The sooner a patient comes to MercyOne to get that heart care, the sooner we can take care of them and that’s what this is all about. Providing the best care for our patients.”
