MercyOne Genesis Davenport Adds Safe Haven Baby Box
Safe Haven Baby Boxes and the community of Davenport are pleased to announce the blessing and official unveiling of the newest Safe Haven Baby Box, located at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center at 1227 East Rusholme Street, Davenport, IA 52803. The ceremony will take place on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 9:30 AM CDT. This blessing marks the 481st Safe Haven Baby Box in the nation and the 5th in Iowa, expanding access to safe, anonymous surrender options for mothers in crisis.
This project is a testament to what can happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose. The Safe Haven Baby Box was made possible through charitable gifts to the MercyOne Genesis Foundation and was fueled by the passion, commitment, and generosity of people who believed in its mission. We are deeply grateful to the MercyOne Genesis Foundation Board of Directors, the Quad Cities Community Foundation, and the many generous individual donors whose support turned this vision into a reality. Thank you for helping create a safe, compassionate option for families in crisis. Your generosity and belief in this project will have a lasting impact on lives in our community for years to come.
Safe Haven Baby Boxes Founder Monica Kelsey shared, “We are the only organization providing complete anonymity, and we want these mothers to know we are there for them and their infant before and following a surrender.”
