Make-A-Wish Northeast South Dakota Event Raises Historic Funds at Annual Dinner and Auction
Make-A-Wish South Dakota & Montana is thrilled to share the record-breaking success of its recent Northeast South Dakota Dinner and Auction, an inspiring event that raised an incredible $222,284 in net proceeds which will help grant more than 20 wishes for children facing critical illnesses. This year’s success serves as a testament to the remarkable generosity of the Watertown and northeast South Dakota communities.
”What an absolutely awe-inspiring, record-breaking event! The generosity of the northeast South Dakota community has left us speechless. To see the room come alive with such passion, joy, and heartfelt commitment for our wish kids was nothing short of extraordinary,” said Sue Salter, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish South Dakota & Montana. “Every bid, every cheer, every moment of celebration fueled something bigger than all of us. Because of this community’s generosity and the remarkable leadership of many -- especially DeDe Gilbertson, Gerry Likness, Laurie Danforth and the Driscoll family -- more children will experience the lasting hope and joy of a wish. We are overwhelmed with gratitude and proud to be part of a community that believes so deeply in transforming the lives of children battling critical illnesses.”
At the November event, attendees heard powerful stories from local wish children and their families, took part in raffles and auctions, and experienced a special highlight for this year’s program — a live performance by renowned speed painter David Garibaldi. Before the audience’s eyes, Garibaldi created three striking masterpieces, each infused with a meaningful message. Special thanks to the event’s Entertainment Sponsor, Watertown Ford Chrysler, for sponsoring this unforgettable experience, which alone generated more than $111,000 in net proceeds for wishes.
Event organizer DeDe Gilbertson shared heartfelt gratitude for the community’s support: “We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of the Northeast region in support of our Make-A-Wish kids. A special thank you to the Driscolls of Watertown Ford Chrysler for sponsoring David Garibaldi. Because of partners like them and this incredible community, we can continue making wishes come true. We’ll see you next year!”
Make-A-Wish South Dakota & Montana sincerely thanks the Watertown community, surrounding areas, generous sponsors, donors, and dedicated volunteers who made this extraordinary event possible. Your support helps bring joy, strength, and hope to children and families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.
Looking ahead, the organization is pleased to share that the next Northeast South Dakota Dinner & Auction is scheduled for November 6, 2026. More details and opportunities to get involved in this annual celebration of hope and generosity will be announced soon.
