Kearney Cancer Center to Host Ribbon Cutting and Public Open House September 27

More than 11,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed each year in Nebraska. Many patients in greater Nebraska seek cancer treatment and surgery in different locations, without centrally coordinated plans for ongoing care. This often means traveling far distances for care.

Kearney Cancer Center is a new 25,000 square-foot facility located between Kearney Regional Medical Center and Yanney Park. The facility allows patients to experience coordinated cancer care in one location, close to home.

The project was unveiled in May 2023 and is a joint venture between KRMC and Cancer Partners of Nebraska. It is slated to open later this fall.

A ribbon cutting and public open house is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, with remarks starting at 10 a.m. Featured speakers include:

  • Seth Denney (former NTV anchor and KRMC Foundation board member)

  • Zach Wiegert (former Nebraska and NFL football player, owner of Goldenrod Companies)

  • Melissa Stade, MD (surgeon, Platte Valley General Surgery Clinic)

  • Justin Burr, MD (radiation oncologist, Cancer Partners of Nebraska)

  • Russ Gronewold (president and CEO, Bryan Health)

  • Derek Rusher, Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce, with Mayor Jonathan Nikkila

After the ribbon cutting, tours will be available until 2 p.m.
