Jenna Bortnem, Physical Therapist Joins Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital
Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital is excited to welcome Jenna Bortnem, PT, DPT. Jenna has several years of physical therapy experience and has worked with patients of all ages and with a wide variety of impairments. She attended The University of South Dakota, received her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, and then received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2013. She has experience in acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation, pediatrics, and outpatient therapy. She has a particular interest in orthopedic care, functional dry needling, and chronic pain.
Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin needle to stimulate underlying trigger points and muscle tissue to help manage pain and impairments of movement. It is a technique combined with other physical therapy interventions to treat dysfunction in muscles and reduce pain input leading to improved function for patients.
