Iowa Hospital to Be Featured in National Public Television Documentary Series
Waverly Health Center (WHC) will be featured in an upcoming segment of “All Access with Andy Garcia” on Public Television (PTV) stations. The program is dedicated to highlighting innovation, compassion and organizations making a meaningful difference in their communities.
WHC will appear as part of a series called Small Towns, Big Care: America’s Rural Hospital Impact, which explores the essential role rural hospitals play across the country. The series celebrates the unique strengths of rural health care and its deep community connections, personalized approach to care and commitment to advancing access close to home.
“Being featured in All Access with Andy Garcia was an incredible opportunity to showcase the heart of our hospital, the people, purpose and passion that shapes everything we do,” said Jodi Geerts, WHC CEO. “We are immensely proud to represent our community on a national platform. This segment reflects the dedication of our staff and the vital role rural health care plays for the people we serve.”
The featured episode highlights WHC’s approach to challenges facing rural health care and a patient experience that illustrates the hospital’s mission and values. The story underscores the importance of local access to trusted care.
For more than 120 years, WHC has served Waverly and the surrounding region with a commitment to providing high quality, person-centered care. This national recognition is an opportunity not only to showcase exceptional work being done in rural health care settings, but also elevates the broader message of why investment in local health care is vital.
“Hospitals are the backbone of their communities,” Geerts added. “This feature reinforces what we know so well. Reliable care close to home strengthens the health, well‑being and future of rural communities.”
The documentary series will debut nationally on March 30, with additional distribution through digital and broadcast channels throughout the year.
