Huron Regional Medical Center And Employees Contribute $20,752 To United Way

The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) board of directors recently voted to match employee contributions to donate a combined total of $20,752 to the 2023 United Way Heartland Region (UWHR) campaign.

“The United Way is one of the most impactful ways for HRMC to give back,” said Laurie Solem, HRMC board chairperson. “We’re grateful for the work the United Way does in our community and its support of so many valued missions.”

HRMC employees were invited to contribute during the hospital’s benefit fair in November and an employee-led committee hosted root beer floats and door prize drawings to encourage contributions. Pledges were collected through the month of November and with the board contribution of $12,000, the UWHR received nearly $21,000.

“Our community initiatives and partnerships depend on this support each year to continue the essential work they’re doing to benefit others,” said UWHR executive director Jen Bragg. “We are grateful for our partnership with HRMC. The generosity of the employees and board truly makes a difference to many in need throughout the region.”

This year’s UWHR campaign goal is $285,000 and funds will help to continue the mission to improve lives and advance the common good by connecting community resources with needs in the Heartland Region. The UWHR pillars are to support education, health and financial stability for our communities. Supported programs and projects include the Heartland Region Backpack Program, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, MENtors and PALS education program, Huron Youth Leadership Council, Hunger Games food drive, Slumberland bed giveaway, Born Learning Trail,  Day of Caring and Day of Action, Tiger After School Program, Familywize Prescription program, 211 Helpline, SD State Fair Pay It Forward partnership as well as other volunteer opportunities. The United Way also promotes other initiatives in education, health and wellness, strengthening families, youth and senior programs.

“There’s still time to make a contribution in support of the important resources UWHR provides to the community,” said Bragg. Interested donors can contact the United Way office at 605-352-3537 or donate online at www.liveunitedhuronsd.com.
