HRMC Surgical Department Expansion Planned
Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) board of directors recently approved a major expansion and renovation of the hospital’s surgery department aimed at enhancing the surgical experience for patients in the region.
Starting in May, construction will begin on four new operating rooms, adding over 5,000 square feet of space to the existing same-day surgery parking area. This expansion will accommodate state-of-the-art surgical equipment and technology, allowing for optimized patient care and future advancements in medical procedures.
Subsequent phases will involve relocating the endoscopy suites to the current operating room location and adding minor procedure and consultation rooms. A new central sterilization department will also be part of the renovation. The final phase, scheduled for completion in late 2026, will modernize the post-anesthesia care unit, as well as the patient preparation and recovery rooms, creating a more comfortable and efficient healing environment.
