Helmsley Charitable Trust Awards $4.4M to South Dakota and $4M to Minnesota for AHA's Mission: Lifeline Stroke Initiative

The Helmsley Charitable Trust has granted $4.4 million in South Dakota and $4 million in Minnesota to the American Heart Association for Mission: Lifeline Stroke initiatives that strengthen the full spectrum of stroke care across each state.

Mission: Lifeline Stroke focuses on connecting components of acute stroke care into a smoothly integrated system that reinforces the use of evidence-based guidelines to effectively treat stroke patients in a timely manner.  The system can save lives and improve the lives of those saved.

“We believe that a comprehensive approach is the best way to make the most substantial impact, especially for rural populations that face longer transit times and limited access to specialists,” said Walter Panzirer, a Trustee for the Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Cardiovascular disease, including heart and stroke conditions, is the leading cause of death in the United States.
