Focus on the neck — A spotlight on thyroid disorders

According to the American Thyroid Association, more than 12% of the U.S. population will develop a thyroid condition, and an estimated 20 million Americans have thyroid disease.

Columbus Community Hospital wants to help community members learn more about thyroid disorders by offering a free Lunch & Learn featuring Dr. Enas Al Zaghal, endocrinologist with Faith Regional Physician Services.

The event will be at noon on Tuesday, June 7, in the Platte and Prairie rooms at Columbus Community Hospital. Al Zaghal will discuss why it is important to learn about the thyroid and how it helps the body complete day-to-day functions. She will also talk about the differences between an overactive and underactive thyroid, symptoms and treatment options. Following the presentation, she will answer questions.

Participants should register for the event by Friday, June 3, by calling 402-562-3380 or visiting www.columbushosp.org. Registration includes a light lunch.

Attendees may choose to attend in person or via Zoom. A link to the Zoom event is available online.
