Five Students To Sign With Project SEARCH

Five area high school students will sign their letters of intent for the Project SEARCH program at Mary Lanning Healthcare this week. 

The signing day event for the 2024-25 program will be Wednesday, May 1, at 12:30 p.m. at MLH in Conference Room 1, located on the Ground Floor.  

Project SEARCH, a one-year work training program, started at MLH in fall 2001. Eighty percent of  student participants remain working in some form of employment.  

During the 2024-25 school year, students who sign up will be trained to work in various jobs at MLH. 

The program is a partnership among MLH, Educational Service Unit 9, Hastings Public Schools, Adams Central Public Schools, Vocational Rehabilitation Services and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Project SEARCH was developed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, which is still the administrative headquarters for the organization. Project SEARCH is a business-led, one-year work-preparation program for young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Most participants are enrolled while transitioning from high school to work. The hallmark of Project SEARCH is total workplace immersion, which facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration and hands-on training.
