Essentia Health Hosting Joint-Replacement Seminar In Fargo, Highlighting State-Of-The-Art Technology

Essentia Health on Tuesday, Oct. 10, will host a seminar in Fargo highlighting available surgical options for joint replacement, including information on the state-of-the-art ROSA (robotic surgical assistant) Knee System.

This complimentary event starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Prairie Rose Room at the Avalon Events Center, located at 2525 Ninth Ave. S.

Essentia orthopedic surgeons Dr. Roxanne Keene, Dr. Samual Lindemeier and Dr. Prasad Sawardeker will discuss surgical options for knee, hip and shoulder replacements, other orthopedic conditions and our therapy program. They will highlight how the ROSA Knee System offers the most precise knee replacements.

The ROSA Knee System, introduced to Essentia Health-Fargo in July 2022, uses data collected before and during surgery to inform the surgeon about the patient’s unique anatomy, which may affect the implant fit. By using real-time data, the surgeon can plan for and carry out a customized operation.

“The procedure is like a traditional total knee replacement, but with a robotic assistant,” explained Dr. Lindemeier. “The surgeon is still in control, but it allows for a higher level of accuracy and precision. This process is taking what has already been a successful procedure to the next level.”

If you are experiencing knee pain or just have general questions about joint replacement, please join us. Light refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is available at EssentiaHealth.org/JointSeminar but is not required.

Essentia Health-Fargo hits 200 ROSA surgeries

Essentia Health-Fargo on Sept. 6 completed its 200th ROSA Knee System knee-replacement surgery.

“We are excited to reach the 200th TKA (total knee arthroplasty) with ROSA milestone,” said Dr. Keene who, alongside Dr. Lindemeier, performs these surgeries. “ROSA utilizes precise bone resection with minimal soft tissue disruption to help improve clinical results. ROSA can improve implant alignment which can enhance functional outcomes and may contribute to the longevity of an implant. ROSA-assisted TKA helps us meet our goal of relieving pain and restoring function for our patients.”

Essentia Health-Fargo has since surpassed this milestone, reaching 213 surgeries as of Sept. 25.

Knee-replacement surgery using the ROSA Knee System may be recommended for patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis who have knee pain, swelling, stiffness and decreased flexibility despite undergoing conservative treatment.

Essentia Health-Fargo is recognized as a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center+ for Hip and Knee Replacement and has been named a Healthgrades Five-Star Recipient for Total Knee Replacement and Total Hip Replacement.
