Essentia Health-Fargo Welcomes A Leap Year Baby

Essentia Health-Fargo welcomed a Leap Day baby on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Scottie Monroe Morgan was born at 10:14 p.m. to parents Madison Scott and Joshua Morgan of Fargo. Scottie weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

Scottie’s name includes both of her parents’ last names. “It’s just a piece of me and a piece of him,” explained Madison.

Madison and Joshua moved to Fargo from Birmingham, Alabama in April 2023. Scottie is their first child but is “sissy” to their three dogs.

“She was four weeks early, so she wanted to be a Leap Year baby,” added Madison.

In 2023, Essentia Health-Fargo was redesignated as a Baby-Friendly® hospital by Baby-Friendly USA. Essentia Health-Fargo first received this designation in 2018 and is the only Baby-Friendly® designated hospital in the Fargo-Moorhead area, and one of two in the entire state of North Dakota. This redesignation will go through 2028. Being a Baby-Friendly® hospital demonstrates Essentia Health-Fargo’s commitment to the highest standards of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
