Community Hospital Welcomes Behavioral Health Provider Farrah Stunkel

Community Hospital is pleased to welcome Farrah Stunkel, LIMHP, to its Behavioral Health team. Farrah provides counseling services for patients ages 12 and older and treats a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and substance use disorders.

Originally from the Kearney area, Farrah recently relocated to McCook after working as a counselor at Valley Hope in Norton, Kansas. She holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and is a Board Certified Counselor.

"When I was younger, a counselor had a tremendous impact on my life, and that’s what inspired me to help others," Farrah shared. She describes her approach as patient-centered, focused on building trust and creating a safe, judgment-free environment where patients can move at their own pace. "For anyone nervous about seeking counseling, I want them to know that therapy is a gift you give yourself," she said. "This is a safe space, and there is no shame in asking for help."

"Her experience, compassionate approach, and commitment to meeting patients where they are will be a tremendous asset to both our patients and our organization. Behavioral health services are critically important in our region, and Farrah helps us continue expanding access to the care our communities need."

Farrah is especially passionate about supporting individuals experiencing trauma and grief and is excited to help address the growing need for behavioral health services across southwest Nebraska.

Outside of work, Farrah enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, kayaking, and caring for her two dogs, Bentley and Bella. She and her husband recently made McCook their home and are excited to become part of the community.
