Columbus Community Hospital's Dietitians Present Diabetes Awareness Day on Oct. 1

If you want to learn more about diabetes, Columbus Community Hospital has just the event for you. Diabetes Awareness Day will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the hospital’s first-floor conference center. The event will include cooking demonstrations, informational booths and free and discounted screenings and immunizations.

Below are the screenings and immunizations that will be available:

  • Blood sugar – free

  • Blood pressure – free

  • Vision – free

  • Foot checks – free

  • Hearing – free

  • Bone density – free

  • A1c - $20

  • Influenza immunization - $21

  • Prevnar 20 (pneumonia) vaccine - $250

Screenings will be provided by the hospital’s Occupational Health Services department, CCH staff and the Columbus Lions Club.

Informational sessions include:

  • 5:45 p.m. - “Diabetes and kidney health” by Dr. Bryce Lund, nephrology, dialysis and hypertension specialist

  • 6:30 p.m.  – “Healthful good soups” by Susan Olmer, RD, LMNT, CCH dietitian
