Columbus Community Hospital participates in Nebraska Hospital Association Advocacy Day

Columbus Community Hospital participated in the Nebraska Hospital Association's Advocacy Day on Wednesday, March 2.

NHA's Advocacy Day brings together hospital CEOs, advocacy team members, key hospital staff, state senators, representatives from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and other state health care advocates. During the event, they share important information about state and federal legislative issues that affect health care.

The event allows the NHA and its members — including CCH — to talk with state legislators about health care issues and advocate for the best policy and funding decisions for Nebraska's health care systems. It also allows CCH to stay up to date on any legislative matters that may affect its patients.

"Our legislators must hear the voices of Nebraska's hospitals and health systems," said Mike Hansen, president and CEO at the hospital. "The Nebraska Hospital Association Advocacy Day allows us to ensure that we discuss key issues, and that we make our position on proposed legislation clear."

In conjunction with its NHA Advocacy Day participation, the hospital published a new white paper highlighting its unique programs, services and physicians and its accomplishments over the past year.

The white paper talks about the hospital's:

·         Response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

·         Fieldhouse project.

·         Columbus Surgery Center acquisition.

·         Senior behavioral health unit.

·         Cardiac catheterization lab.
