Columbus Community Hospital Named a 2022 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital

Columbus Community Hospital has been named one of the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, a leading provider of comprehensive advisory services and analytics to the health care industry.

The Chartis Center for Rural Health's annual Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals award is regarded as one of the industry's most significant designations of performance excellence.

"We are so honored to have received this recognition," said Mike Hansen, president and CEO at CCH. "It's a testament to our physicians’, staff’s and volunteers' hard work and dedication and proof of our hospital's commitment to providing high-quality patient care."

The award is based on the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX® from iVantage Health Analytics. This index leverages 50 rural-relevant indicators across eight pillars of hospital strength (inpatient market share, outpatient market share, cost, charge, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives and financial stability) to determine an overall score for each hospital. Each of the index's 50 indicators is culled from publicly-available data sources.

Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility scored in the top 100 among all rural and community hospitals nationally. CCH is one of only two Nebraska facilities to be identified.

"Despite unprecedented adversity, rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities," said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. "Honoring the Top 100 is one of the high points of our year. We are delighted to recognize this year's recipients' exceptional performance and innovation, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America's rural health safety net."

For the last 12 years, the INDEX has established itself as the industry's most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. The INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across various areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
