Columbus Community Hospital Appoints Columbus Fieldhouse Leaders
Columbus Community Hospital is pleased to announce two key staff members for the new Columbus Fieldhouse coming in 2024.
Rob Marshall will be the director of fieldhouse operations, and Lucas Novotny will be the director of performance and training at the fieldhouse.
"Rob and Lucas will be great additions to the fieldhouse," said Mike Hansen, president and CEO. "This project will be a regional asset and a game-changer for our community. We're excited to enter the project's operational phase by filling key positions to provide vital input moving forward."
The Columbus Fieldhouse is a 260,000-square-foot facility expected to open in 2024 with a full-sized soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts, golf simulators, batting cages and additional areas for various competitive sports.
"The hospital participated in a community health needs assessment in 2012 that identified several chronic health issues among men, women and even children," said Hansen. "Our mission is to improve health and wellness in our community. We started with a wellness center, and now we are adding the fieldhouse to enhance our work and engage our community."
The fieldhouse will integrate fitness, wellness, rehabilitation services and child care all under one roof and will be available to everyone, regardless of health status or income level. This facility will be one of the only fieldhouses of its kind in Nebraska.
As director of fieldhouse operations, Marshall will be responsible for running day-to-day functions and scheduling health and wellness activities.
"With more than 20 years of experience at the hospital, Rob will be a great fit," said Scott Messersmith, vice president of operations and human resources. "Rob is an athletic trainer and has worked with coaches, schools and children in the community. He understands the tie between athletes, sports medicine and all the therapies available."
As director of performance and training at the fieldhouse, Novotny will lead the creation and implementation of performance enhancement, strength and conditioning. He will work directly with clients and area schools.
"Lucas has a skill for making relationships in the profession and industry of strength coaching," said Doug Janssen, director of Rehabilitative Services. "He is experienced and has researched best practices in the industry. He also has developed programs for a wide realm of sports teams."
