Essentia Health To Highlight New Robotic-Assisted Knee-Replacement Surgery At Seminar

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Essentia Health will host a seminar in Fargo to update the community on surgical options for joint replacement, which includes an exciting advancement in orthopedic surgery called the ROSA (robotic surgical assistant) Knee System.

The ROSA Knee System is a robotic-assisted surgical system designed by Zimmer Biomet that enables specially trained surgeons to carry out the most precise knee-replacement procedures. During the seminar, Essentia orthopedic surgeons Dr. Roxanne Keene and Dr. Sam Lindemeier will give a presentation on the ROSA Knee System, which debuted at Essentia Health-Fargo in July.

“We are excited to showcase the ROSA Knee System during this upcoming seminar and educate the community on its benefits,” said Drs. Keene and Lindemeier. “This innovative technology allows for more accuracy when placing the knee implant, improving on an already successful surgery.”

The ROSA Knee System uses data collected before and during surgery to inform the surgeon(s) about details related to the patient’s unique anatomy that may affect the implant fit. By using this real-time data, the surgeon can plan for and carry out a personalized surgery based on that patient’s individual needs.

Knee-replacement surgery using the ROSA Knee System may be recommended for patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis who have knee pain, swelling, stiffness and decreased flexibility despite undergoing conservative treatment.

The Sept. 27 seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will take place in the Prairie Rose Room of the Avalon Events Center, located at 2525 9th Ave. S., Fargo. All are welcome to attend, and no registration is necessary.
