Columbus Cardiology Clinic Nurse Sarah Huettner Receives APRN Licensure

Columbus Cardiology Clinic nurse Sarah Huettner, APRN, recently received her advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) licensure.

She completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in May 2022. In June, she received her APRN licensure from the state of Nebraska after passing a certifying exam.

“We want to congratulate Sarah and wish her all the happiness in passing her board certification exams to become a nurse practitioner,” said Dr. Sabu George, cardiac catheterization lab medical director. “She will work with our cardiology patients and serve as a bridge between the different cardiology providers in the hospital. We look forward to working closely with her and expanding this service to the community.”

While attending school, Huettner completed nearly 600 clinical hours at various rural family practice facilities, including Humphrey Family Medicine in Humphrey and Boone County Medical Clinic in Albion.

Huettner started at Columbus Community Hospital in 2012 and worked as a registered nurse for nearly 10 years in various hospital departments before joining the cardiology clinic in May 2022. In her spare time, she serves as a basic life support instructor at Central Community College in Columbus and as a volunteer emergency medical technician (EMT) for the Humphrey Fire and Rescue team.

“We are incredibly proud of Sarah’s accomplishments in becoming a nurse practitioner, and we are very excited to have her join the Columbus Cardiology Clinic team,” said Korie Whitmore, director of clinics at the hospital. “She is an extremely dedicated and knowledgeable clinician who treats her patients like family. Furthermore, her knowledge of the hospital and local health care community will be extremely valuable in coordinating care and communication amongst the patients’ care providers.”

Columbus Cardiology Clinic offers full-service cardiology services, primarily focusing on post-cardiac catheterization patients. The outpatient clinic in the Healthpark Medical Office Building, adjacent to Columbus Community Hospital, at 4508 38th St., Suite 210, is open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
