CHI Health, a member of CommonSpirit Health, is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Goebel as the president of its Nebraska and Iowa Market. Goebel steps into the role after six months of serving as interim market president, overseeing CHI Health hospitals across Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
Since May 2022, Goebel has demonstrated her ability to lead, foster excellence, and drive change. She previously served as senior vice president and chief operating officer for CHI Health and CommonSpirit Health’s Midwest Market. Among her successes in this role, Goebel successfully helped develop a multi-state transfer center and promoted a people-focused culture among leadership teams.
From February 2023 to July 2024, Goebel also served as interim president of CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy. While there, she helped dramatically decrease length of stay and nursing turnover, as well as increase patient experience scores.
“My entire career has been driven by a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, and I am committed to fostering an environment of continuous growth and empowering our dedicated healthcare workers and teams,” Goebel said. “I look forward to working together to improve the health and well-being of the communities we proudly serve – which is at the core of CHI Health’s mission.”
"Julie embodies the very best of CHI Health and CommonSpirit Health,” said Tim Bricker, CommonSpirit Health Central Region president. “Her dedication to high-quality patient care, her focus on continuous improvement, and her ability to inspire employee engagement have consistently elevated our organization. We are fortunate to have her deep understanding of, and commitment to, our Iowa and Nebraska hospitals.”
Prior to joining CHI Health and CommonSpirit Health, Goebel served in several leadership roles for Hospital Sisters Health System in Illinois. She earned her Master of Health Administration from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois.
