Brookings Health A Four-Year Champion Of Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals

Brookings Health System has been recognized as a four-year champion to Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list can currently be viewed on Newsweek’s website.

“We are proud to be the only South Dakota hospital outside of Sioux Falls to be recognized by Newsweek and Statista in 2024,” said President and CEO Jason Merkley. “To consistently make the same list as such elite healthcare providers as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and The Johns Hopkins Hospital demonstrates our team’s commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, personalized health care to every patient, every time.”

Brookings Health ranks 189 of the Best Hospitals 2024 in the United States, up 40 spots from last year’s ranking. In addition, Brookings Health has received a Patient Experience Award, marking high patient satisfaction. Newsweek and Statista developed a complex methodology to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking. Four data sources were used for the evaluation:

  • Hospital recommendations from Medical Experts: an international online survey sent to more than 85,000 doctors, hospital managers and health care professionals

  • Patient Experience: surveys measuring patient satisfaction with hospitals and the quality of care the patient received

  • Hospital Quality Metrics: data on quality of care, hygiene measures and staffing

  • Patient Reported Outcome Measures: surveys measuring patient satisfaction with hospitals

The World's Best Hospitals 2024 list recognizes the best medical institutions across 30 countries: USA, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India, Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Austria, Thailand, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Chile and Malaysia.
