Bras for the Cause Raises Over $60,000 for Local Cancer Patients
The 2nd Annual Bras for the Cause, "Together We Can Knock Out Cancer," held earlier this summer at The Peacock Lounge & Grille, raised $61,372 for the Abben Cancer Center of Spencer Hospital. Proceeds will support local cancer patients and their families with needs beyond medical treatment.
In 2025, 441 Dickinson County residents received cancer treatment at Abben Cancer Center, highlighting the importance of providing cancer care close to home. Funds from Bras for the Cause will help provide transportation assistance, medical equipment, meal support, and other individualized assistance to help ease the financial, physical, and emotional challenges of cancer treatment.
"Support from events like Bras for the Cause has a tremendous impact on our patients and their families," said Sara Taylor, Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation Director. "These funds allow us to respond to needs that can create an additional burden during an already difficult time. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came together to remind local families facing cancer that their community is behind them."
The event brought together cancer survivors, patients, families, friends, and community members for an evening of celebration, entertainment, and support. Highlights included a presentation by Dr. Nguyen, Radiation Oncologist at Abben Cancer Center, a decorated bra live auction, silent auction, and dueling pianos entertainment.
The Bras for the Cause Committee extends its appreciation to the sponsors, volunteers, donors, auction participants, cancer survivors, and everyone who attended. Their generosity will make a meaningful difference for local patients battling cancer.
Mark your calendars for June 16, 2027, for the 3rd Annual Bras for the Cause.
