Avera Hand County Receives Top 20 Recognition

Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller, SD, was named among the 2025 Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by the National Rural Health Association.

The National Rural Health Association recognizes the overall Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals from a list of the Top 100 CAHs as determined by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance Index.

“Each year, Avera continues to have numerous facilities that earn the Top 100 distinctions, as well as Top 20. This consistency is a testament to our focus on delivering high quality care, ensuring access and keeping health care affordable. Having high quality care locally also strengthens communities and improves quality of life,” said Jim Dover, FACHE, President and CEO of Avera.
