Crisis Communication 101: How to Manage Crisis Communication in a Digital World is an online seminar examining media and crisis communication fundamentals in today’s media environment. The seminar is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct 31.

Dan Corey from Wixted and Company will explore the definition of a crisis versus an issue or controversy and why crises gain so much attention. Health care leaders will learn how the media works, how it has evolved in recent years and how the continuous news cycle changes how a story is developed. Corey will also examine the importance of audience analysis, the four phases of a crisis and message development.

Other key learning elements include how to assemble an incident response team, the importance of gathering information, framing the event and managing the release of accurate information. Leaders will leave the online seminar with the information, understanding and tools needed to begin planning for organizational crisis communication needs.
