Wound Care Team at LRHC Earns Full WCC Credentialing, Advancing Comprehensive Patient Care

The Outpatient Wound Care Clinic at Lexington Regional Health Center (LRHC) is proud to announce  that its multidisciplinary team has achieved full Wound Care Certified (WCC) credentialing, reflecting LRHC’s ongoing  commitment to progressive, evidence-based, and comprehensive wound and skin care.

This milestone highlights a fully credentialed wound care team that includes Tara Lawless, APRN, FNP-C, WCC; Vanji  Vosler, BSN, RN, WCC; Lisa Kinnan, RN, WCC; and Brooke Wolfe, PTA, WCC. Together, these clinicians provide advanced  wound management for surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure injuries, and other complex  wounds through individualized, patient-centered treatment plans.

"Having a fully WCC-credentialed team strengthens our ability to deliver consistent, evidence-based care,” said Tara  Lawless. “It reflects our commitment to Excellence and ensures our patients receive the highest level of wound care.”

Supporting the wound care program, Shannon Hueftle, PTA, CCS, CLT; Kandace Davis, PT, CLT; and Leeann Smith, PTA,  WTA, contribute specialized expertise in compression therapy, lymphedema management, and wound treatment  coordination. Their collaboration between the Wound Care and Physical Therapy departments allows patients to receive  integrated services such as manual lymphatic drainage, compression garment fitting, and wound dressing changes,  improving efficiency, access, and continuity of care.

“Compression is one of the key factors in lifelong management of lymphedema and chronic health conditions. Adding  my compression certification has given me a wider base of knowledge in selecting and fitting garments properly”, added  Shannon Hueftle, PTA. “The right compression makes all the difference, and the wrong fit can be just as harmful as no  compression at all.”

The LRHC Wound Care Clinic is recognized for its progressive approach, emphasizing continuous professional education  and training to stay current with the latest wound management technologies, biologic products, and advanced  modalities. The clinic also provides dermatology services, including in-office biopsies, lesion evaluation, and treatment of  skin conditions that may impact wound healing.

“Working with this wound care team for the last few years has inspired me to advance my skills and education in the  field of wound care, reflecting our shared commitment to excellence in the care we provide. Being both a Wound Care  Certified (WCC) clinician and a therapist provides me with a unique perspective on patient care”, said Brooke Wolfe,  PTA. “This dual role allows me to approach each case comprehensively- addressing all aspects of healing- to ensure our  patients receive the tools, education, and support they need to achieve the best possible outcome.”
