Women’s Clinic Open House Welcomes Midwives–January 26

CHI Health Clinic Women’s Health (Grand Island), in celebration of adding Midwifery service, is hosting an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26 with remarks at 6 p.m. The community is invited to meet and greet the clinic’s new certified nurse midwives Brandi Stein and Andrea Carkoski. Refreshments will be served.

CHI Health Clinic Women’s Health, located at 705 Orleans Drive, opened Feb. 8, 2021. The newly remodeled facility, featuring eight exam rooms and an on-site procedure and ultrasound room, is focused on the treatment and prevention of conditions unique to females at every stage of life. Board certified obstetric and gynecology Drs. Michael Ryskin and Dr. Amanda Stuelpnagel; women’s health nurse practitioner Chelsey Kennedy, and nurse midwives Brandi Stein and Andrea Carkoski anchor the practice.

More about Certified Nurse Midwifery:

A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) has a bachelor degree in nursing and master's degree in nurse-midwifery. CNMs are registered nurses (RNs) who have graduated from an accredited nurse-midwifery education program and passed a national certification exam.

Certified Nurse Midwives not only provide care to women during pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period, but also provide general health services, annual checkup, family planning, menopausal care and treatment for common infections and health problems. 

More about Brandi Stein, CNM:

Brandi Stein, certified nurse midwife, is the first midwife on the medical staff at the Maternity Center at CHI Health St. Francis and in the Grand Island community.

Stein received her Masters of Science in Nursing-Certified Nurse Midwife degree from the Frontier Nursing University, KY. In addition, Stein holds national certifications in inpatient obstetrics and external fetal monitoring and is a trained pediatric and adult sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE).

Before pursuing advanced practice and midwifery, Stein worked as a registered nurse for 23 years. Most of that time was spent as a labor and delivery RN and board certified lactation consultant at St. Francis.

More about Andrea Carkoski, CNM:

Andrea Carkoski, certified nurse midwife, is the second midwife on the medical staff at the Maternity Center at CHI Health St. Francis and in the Grand Island community. She will begin seeing patients on Feb. 19.

Carkoski received her Masters of Science in Nursing-Certified Nurse Midwife degree from the Frontier Nursing University, KY. Before pursuing midwifery, Carkoski worked as a registered nurse (RN) for more than 6 years in labor and delivery at St. Francis.
