West River ENT Launches PRP Treatment for Loss of Smell in the Black Hills
Dr. Dallin Christensen
Rapid City Medical Center is proud to announce that Dr. Dallin Christensen, ENT physician, is now offering Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for patients suffering from loss of smell. Dr. Christensen is the first ENT specialist in the Black Hills region to offer this advanced therapy.
Loss of smell, or anosmia, is a condition that affects thousands of people each year and has become more common following COVID-19 infections. For many, the loss can persist long after recovery, significantly impacting daily life. PRP therapy uses a patient’s own platelets, rich in growth and healing factors to stimulate regeneration of the olfactory nerves. This treatment has been shown to improve sense of smell in over 80% of patients.
“This is really exciting for me because in my practice, I’ve been unsatisfied with the options that I’ve had to offer patients in the past,” said Dr. Christensen. “PRP therapy gives us a promising, minimally invasive option that can help restore the sense of smell and improve overall quality of life. I’m excited to bring this treatment to our community.”
