USD Department of Social Work to Host Third Annual Mental Health Conference

The Department of Social Work at the University of South Dakota will host its third annual conference for mental health professionals from May 13 to 14 at the USD – Sioux Falls campus.

This year’s South Dakota Mental Health Services Conference will address supporting mental health with cultural humility and strength, featuring keynote speaker Jeremy Holloway, Ph.D., an educator, speaker and consultant with expertise in social determinants of health.

Holloway is renowned for delivering insights that drive meaningful change in health care settings. With deep expertise in cross-cultural communication, resiliency and the transformative power of human connection, his engaging presentations equip organizations with practical strategies to improve patient outcomes, enhance team resilience and strengthen equitable care practices.

During the conference, the Department of Social Work will present the Inspiring Social Worker of the Year award, honoring an individual whose dedication and compassion have made a meaningful impact. The recipient will receive a certificate of achievement and a $2,500 award in recognition of their commitment to serving and inspiring others.

The conference will also feature a networking social on May 13, bringing together community organizers, social workers, faculty and students, followed by an organization fair on May 14.

Registration for the conference is open until April 20.
