Trust Works Here: Nurses Rank Highest in Honesty and Ethics Among Professionals in United States

Nurses are the most trusted professionals in the United States, the top rated profession for the 20th year in a row. That’s according to Gallup’s annual rating of honesty and  ethics in various professions, with 81% of those polled showing very high trust in nurses.

Gallup says “Nurses have topped the list all but once since being added to Gallup's annual rating of  professions in 1999. That was in 2001, when they were displaced by firefighters -- who earned an all time-high honesty score of 90% when they were included on a one-time basis in the aftermath of the  9/11 attacks.”

Three of the top five most trusted professions are in the medical field, with medical doctors ranked  second and pharmacists ranking fourth.

“Our colleagues have shown a personal commitment to our Mission by the care and compassion they  provide to each person we serve,” said Bob Ritz, President and CEO of MercyOne. “While this last two  years have tested everyone, our colleagues and nurses never wavered. They were not just the  caregiver, they also maintained their commitment to our Mission through their hands, hearts, and eyes - - serving each person.”
