The Iowa Clinic Recognized as a Center of Excellence in Lung Cancer Treatment
The Iowa Clinic has been named a Center of Excellence (COE) by GO2 for Lung Cancer (GO2) in recognition of its strong commitment to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based lung cancer care throughout the Des Moines metro. Each year, an estimated 237,000 Americans are diagnosed with lung cancer. While it remains the leading cause of cancer deaths, survival rates are steadily improving thanks to earlier detection and the availability of groundbreaking treatments.
GO2 COEs Centers of Excellence are recognized for their commitment to patient-centered communication and shared decision-making across the entire care journey. These institutions offer access to standard cancer services including medical, radiation, and surgical oncology, as well as pathology, while following care practices grounded in clinical evidence, expert consensus, and national guidelines. They also engage in multidisciplinary collaboration to guide treatment planning and ensure patients are fully informed participants in their care.
“This is a tremendous honor for our group along with our oncologists and reflects our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care to our patients,” said Dr. Samantha Danielson. “This recognition shows the strength of our multidisciplinary approach, advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, and dedication to innovation in lung cancer care.”
The Iowa Clinic remains deeply dedicated to expanding coordinated cancer care across Central Iowa. As cancer rates continue to rise across the state, the Clinic recognizes the critical need for timely, seamless care that brings together a team of specialists to deliver effective diagnosis, treatment, and long-term support. This designation as a Center of Excellence in lung cancer care reinforces that commitment highlighting The Iowa Clinic’s focus on multidisciplinary, compassionate care for one of the most prevalent and challenging forms of cancer. Through continued collaboration, innovation, and strong community partnerships, The Iowa Clinic is working to ensure patients receive the highest quality care, close to home.
“At The Iowa Clinic, our top priority is giving patients the best care possible,” said Ben Vallier, CEO of The Iowa Clinic. “We’re honored to be part of this trusted network, working to raise the standard of care for people facing lung cancer right here in our community. Our goal is to help every patient live a longer, healthier life.”
“We are proud to have The Iowa Clinic join the community of GO2 for Lung Cancer Centers of Excellence that is national in scope and local in impact,” said GO2 Chief Healthcare Delivery Officer, Joelle Fathi. “Through the GO2 COE network, we are fostering and supporting essential knowledge sharing and collaboration that brings national and global advancements in early detection, treatment and care close to home.”
